Finally some recognition and appreciation for TDS2 which was so misunderstood and unfairly maligned. Thank you, both.
One alternative explanation which might explain Frank’s demise at the hands of the Mexicans is that they were acting on the orders of Mayor Chessani’s son.
In the montage at end of the final episode we see Chessani Junior’s inauguration with the two Mexicans in attendance suggesting that they were part of the son’s crew and instrumental in his coup to take control of Vinci and its rackets.
I also missed this, but that would make perfect sense and fit neatly in with our discussion out how Frank was out of his depth with the political people
Great episode. Another redeeming quality of Ray is that he raises the kid that could possibly be a product of rape as his own. Even goes as far as to not want his ex wife to get a paternity test. In the end she does and the kid ends up being his.
I don’t think so unless a listener brought it up later in the episode. I don’t blame you though season 2 is one of the densest plots in all of television, one of the reasons why it was poorly received by fans IMO. Took me about three watches all the way through to really absorb the whole plot and appreciate the master story telling. Great episode, I’m glad I’ve finally found other guys who appreciate season 2, I’ve gone back and forth with friends for years about this.

Interesting—have to think about that one. Would Mayor Jr have known about Frank’s plans?

Mfw I drive all weekend and Astral releases this the second I’m no longer road tripping
Gimme a heads up next time!

Did we not mention that? Shoot. Yeah it’s such a tragedy man….

My hunch is that Frank was always going to be part of Jnr’s purge along with his father, Pitlor and Davis.
Once Jnr had the new AG in his pocket, he moved on all of them using HIS muscle (the Mexicans).
Second comment saying the Mexicans were the muscle of jnr somehow we both missed that
TDII is excellent. Top-notch cast, dark, Frank and Velcoro are memorable characters etc.
It only got a bad rap due to the impact of season I.
Impossibly large shoes to fill, so disappointment was inevitable.
Casper knew this
I loved season 2. 🔥🔥
