Great show about the girl in that MTV interview, by the way. I am Gen-X (born in 1969), so I was in my late 20s when Phish was popular. I was never a fan of them, or the Grateful Dead for that matter, but we used to go to the shows to hang out in the parking lot to find drugs. You never had to worry about being robbed or any of the problems you see today, and that was in Philly. Hippy girls may have looked unkept, but they were sweet, genuine and always cute in their unkemptness.

When I was in college from '88 to '92 (best time for music, fyi), my old roommate used to 'go on tour with the Dead', and would disappear for 2 weeks in the fall and spring. He would come back with drugs, mainly acid, and women. One time, we went to this girl's apartment after he got back and he met these two gorgeous strippers. So, I went there with him, tripping on acid as these girls entertained us by dancing with their tops off. Never once did I think about touching either one, and neither did my buddy. It was surreal and could not dream of fucking it up.

Yeah man that’s how it was. I became a fan bc my friends used to go to buy drugs and me and another guy fell in love with the music so we started going to the shows. I love your story man! Yeah they were the best, I lived in Northern Cali and New England for the last few years of the 90s and man it really was a dream. Never got to see them out west tho bc I had no money and no car!
