While I support Trump, I’m not a cultist or die hard (I am “die hard” in that he’s the only one I’ll vote for, but not in that he can do no wrong) and my show rarely criticizes him.
When one holds a political position that 'transcends the 2 party paradigm', it is very easy to be smug and arrogant like this guy was, since his ideas have never been held by people in power and have no accountability. Call me old fashioned, but he was very rude.
I liked this guy, he brought up legitimate points about how despite rhetoric nothing really changes. However there is a lot of momentum in Washington and taking control doesn’t appear to be a smooth or easy task. My hope is that the political persecution and the addition of Musk, Vance, RFK, Tulsi and others gives Trump more fight this time.
I’m not offended. I let the guy say what he wanted it wasn’t a debate, I offered very little push back. The whole point was to air the perspective of an honest, informed person who does not support Trump, not to argue with him. This is a pro-Trump show and I wanted to offer another angle bc I think it’s valid. If one wants to hear the counter to what Tracey is saying, listen to my other pro-Trump episodes
Nah, I don’t think he’s lying, but I disagree with him. I didn’t argue I wanted to let him speak. I appreciate his criticisms, otherwise I wouldn’t have had him on. His essays are very good
I didn’t make it all the way through yet, but his argument for Trump’s responsibility for the 2020 riots seemed pretty dishonest: Trump forced them to riot by simply existing. The implication is that if the left hates and scapegoats you, you have a duty to submit, resign and/or disappear from public life. If you don’t, whatever violence erupts is your fault. Classic reactive abuse/victim blaming.
I’m not sure I would call it outright lying, but this and his both-sidesism in general is not exactly honest either.
I was being too charitable. I went back to start listening again and he used the phrase "cling to that mythology" repeatedly in relation to 2020 election fraud. Not 'you can believe that's true' but 'you can cling to that mythology if you want to'. This is extremely dishonest. Instead of acknowledging a different opinion, he's coining a loaded term that characterizes it as a fantastical belief and us as desperate babies hugging it. I used to pay attention to him years ago when I was getting red pilled, but I stopped because of shit like this, which he does regularly. He's a POS.
I don’t think he’s a fake conservative. He seems independent/ I despise the GOP and like Trump, to me that’s the simplest thing in the world, but he doesn’t think there’s any difference in 2024. It’s in the show. I don’t push him or argue much bc that’s not why I had him on
No Tracey is a lib but an honest and sharp guy. , Trump I is a 1990s liberal/civnat. I was referring more to grifters like Charlie Kirk, lil Benji and (lord help us) the groypers. Glad you had him on, I’ll probably listen to the podcast later
Just to pick one example, look at how Tracey used the phrase "cling to that mythology" when referring to 2020 election fraud. Every time. That's not honesty.
There is room for debate on this. Was there fraud? Sure. Did Trump lose because of it? Not so certain. He fucked up on a lot of things: Covid, the wall, cabinet appointments etc. I still voted for him in 20 but the enthusiasm was not great.
You missed the point. If you want to dispute someone honestly you don't characterize their point as "clinging to mythology" over and over. It's a noxious rhetorical dirty trick. People who use sleazy methods like this to win arguments in the minds of dimwitted bystanders are not honest or sharp.

Respect for having him on and letting him speak—we need some shake up in our bubble from time to time and this was refreshing, if a little painful
Ultimately I think he’s wrong. But on his way to getting it wrong he gets a lot right, and it’s stuff a lot us miss
No offence, but Tracey absolutely schooled you. You seemed out of your depth during this entire conversation.

Michael Tracey being a fag. If he can’t tell the difference between Trump and the neocon GOP, he’s fucking lying

Your voice is very familiar, did you do a podcast with John David Ebert a while back?
Tracey is better than most of the fake conservatives; at least he is honest and not afraid of being critical of the Democratic Party

He’s a smart guy
